ARCHIVE OF THE RELIQUARY VISIT 2001 For historical purposes, this section of the website has been maintained in its original form. The content was input before and during the 80 day "Pilgrimage of Grace". The devotion, enthusiasm and size of the crowds who turned out to see the Reliquary during the tour of Ireland, resulted in 183 additional "stops" being made to allow people, especially children, the sick and the elderly, to venerate the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux at the roadside between scheduled venues. Fr J. L. Ryan, O.Carm., National Co-ordinator for the Visit of the Relics, in an interview with Don Mullan, author of the book, "A Gift of Roses - Memories of the Visit to Ireland of St Thérèse" - (Wolfhound Press), referred to these additional "stops" as "a wonderful and unexpected feature of the entire pilgrimage". In his book, the author has published the complete schedule of the veneration venues. This listing has been included here as an addendum, for record purposes, together with "Moments Never to be Forgotten", the interview which was conducted with Fr Ryan following the return of the Reliquary to Lisieux on 2 July 2001. Further records of the visit are available in the book, "St Thérèse in Ireland - Official Diary of the Irish Visit, April - July 2001" - authors Audrey Healy and Fr Eugene McCaffrey O.C.D. (Columba Press). The majority of the photographs published on this site were taken during the visit of the Relics and very generously donated by the general public. "The visit was extraordinary for the blessings and favours received through St Thérèse's intercession. For many, Thérèse of Lisieux is far more than a Little Flower". Don Mullan - Author - "A Gift of Roses".
