Archbishop Fulton
J. Sheen 1895-1979
+ Fulton Sheen was the world's first Tele-Evangelist and remains the Catholic Church's most accomplished media expert. He is known as "America's best known and best loved priest" and many say that he is the world's best known and best loved priest. He had many non-Catholic viewers and listeners. He visited Ireland frequently and was very proud of his Irish roots. His grandfather, Peter Sheen, was born in Limerick on the 13th June 1817 and his grandmother, Anne Roche-Fulton, was born in Croghan, Co. Roscommon. He is best known in Ireland for his preaching sessions, at my invitation, in our Carmelite Church, Whitefriar Street, Dublin, on four special occasions 1969/1971/1973/1975. At the age of 53 he became a professed member of our Carmelite Third Order in Washington DC on the 17th July 1948. It was my privilege to have forged a special bond of friendship with him over those years. Cause of Canonization of Servant of God
