In honour of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face

O Father in Heaven, Who through St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face, dost desire to remind the world of the Merciful Love that fills Your Heart, and the childlike trust we should have in You, humbly we thank You for having crowned with so great glory Your ever faithful child, and for giving her wondrous power to bring unto You day by day, innumerable souls who will praise You eternally.

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face, remember your promise to do good upon earth, shower down your roses on those who invoke you and obtain for us from God the favours we hope for from His Infinite Goodness.

(here mention your requests)

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face with confidence we invoke you.  (three times)

RELICS OF ST. THERESE OF THE CHILD JESUS IN ROME

VATICAN CITY, NOV 14, 2007 (VIS) - At the end of today's general audience, the Pope addressed a special greeting to faithful from the French diocese of Bayeux and Lisieux, accompanied by Bishop Pierre Auguste Pican S.D.B., who have come to Rome on pilgrimage with the relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.

The Holy Father recalled how "120 years ago Therese of Lisieux came to Rome to ask permission of Pope Leo XIII to enter the Carmelite Order, despite her youth. Eighty years ago Pope Pius XI proclaimed her patron saint of missions, and in 1997 Pope John Paul II declared her a Doctor of the Church."

"In this audience," he went on, "I will have the joy of praying before her relics, as will many faithful over the course of this week in various churches in Rome. St. Therese would have liked to learn the languages of the Bible in order to better understand Sacred Scripture. Following her example and that of St. Jerome, dedicate time to frequent reading of the Bible. By familiarizing yourselves with the Word of God, you will discover Christ and remain in intimate contact with Him."

After the General Audience the Relics of St. Thérèse were brought to the Pope’s Private Chapel in his Apartments, where he prayed with the leaders of the Pilgrimage, Bishop Pican of Lisieux; Msgr. Lagoutte, Rector of Lisieux Shrine; Fr. Antonio Sangalli, Carmelite; Sr. Cecile, Curator of ‘Les Buissonnets’ (the Lisieux home of St. Thérèse) and Ria Augustijns from the Lisieux Shrine Staff. This group was received in private audience by the Holy Father, who presented him with a Rosary, carved from a fallen tree, dating from the lifetime of St. Thérèse, in the ‘Les Buissonnets’ garden. The Relics are now visiting all the Shrines in Italy named in St. Thérèse’s ‘Story of a Soul’ during her journey to Italy to see the Pope in 1887.
